AFR Non-Flying Positions

The PCC receives inquiries about non-flying positions such as IMA, CAP-USAF, or ALO Academy Liaison on a regular basis. The PCC does not coordinate or track non-flying positions in the AFR, but below are some guidelines for seeking such positions.

As a

General

Non-flying Reserve positions (rated or non-rated) can be found through several sources, but the PCC does not assist with finding these positions. However, a great place to start in searching for information on being an Individual Reservist (IR) is the HQ RIO Website or the Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) Youtube Channel. s a

Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA)

With the exception of AFRC HQ, IMA positions are not attached to Reserve units, but with Active Duty units. In addition to the above HQ RIO website, the below guide can assist with searching for and securing an IMA position.

Participating Individual Ready Reserve (PIRR)

The PCPIRR (or “Points Only”) is a way for Reservists to serve for retirement points, but not pay. Two such organizations that have PIRR positions are USAFA ALOs (Academy Liaison Officers) or CAP-USAF (CAPRAP) PIRRs.

The PCC does not have any insight to availability of these positions, but you can click on the links below to find more information on each program.
